    PHPbb https://www.phpbb.com/

I used this to start a number of forums for friends. It remains popular, and I assume they have improved it in the last 10 years.

    Simple Machines http://www.simplemachines.org/

Illumanatus, a poster from the past used this to create his forum around 2008. I posted there for several years before I got involved here, and I set other stuff aside to work on this place. Also excellent software.

    MyBB https://mybb.com/

I have little experience with this forum software, but it has been around forever, and a lot of people use it. I'm sure you could find opinions on it if you looked.

All of the above have one problem. They do not have mobile apps to make them phone/tablet friendly. The software we used does, but is expensive and horrible. We made a big mistake choosing it, but did it because we loved the previous version vBulletin 4 and foolishly assumed version 5 would be better in every way. Everyone here knows what a mistake it was. The only good thing I can say about it is,we haven't been hacked since we upgraded.

That brings me to the software we didn't chose to replace vB4.

      Discourse https://www.discourse.org/

The tech guy who used to help us for free recommended it. We decided against it because it would have not maintained our forum structure. It is more free form, and rather than having various sub forums, it has one forum with "Topics" that you can filter for. Managers can set the topics, like Club Game, Fashion, ETC. It also has a lot of self regulating features, reducing the need for moderation. How many people read, and like or dislike, and comment on your posts controls your ranking, and operators can set levels where you qualify for new privileges, and give people rank badges. It also was designed from day one for mobile. It started in about 2012, IIRC, and has been a mobile platform from day one. It is also available for free, and always will remain free, and open source. You can buy it ready to go but it is expensive. The best route for this group would be to get your own hosting package and put up the free version yourselves. In retrospect, we should have gone with this.

      I hope this is useful.

Oh, and I forgot to add...

It is about $15/year to have a URL.

A VPS is like $4 / month, so $50 / year. That's not a lot of money (for me at least).

What I'm worried about is maintenance of software. Updating it etc. to avoid leaks, hacks, spam. The alternative is to just nuke the server and reinstall like once a day, after backing up the database... Should be doable as well.

The other problem is of course privacy - using a real name / credit card to rent the server and buy the domain is... risky in this day and age.

Thanks a lot Silvertree , those are amazing suggestions!

But I guess nobody is gonna take the blunt of this work, or be financially responsible to run the show.
It's not about money, it's about time.

Reddit and facebook have their limitations, but they're easy to set up and have almost 0 technical maintenance

So far the best option seems the one K provided:

"I think we should do reddit. but your reddit account needs to be at least 30 days old to create a forum.
We should call it "MASF" that is a name that will attract everyone in and the best branding for this to work.

We should make it hard core cold approach forum only. let's do this right."

Cold approach is a solved problem for most veterans. Creating a forum that is geared towards cold approach will probably alienate a lot of people.

It is like creating a forum on how to blend cement for people trying to build the sistine chapel.

I disagree. I joined this forum because I wanted to get better with women.

The best seduction material always came from guys who were in-field.
                  I learned because of them.

You know I'm not against online, but I'm calling it as I see it.

cocporn is right! but it is what it is.... the idea that there is no game involved in online is false, you need to text or no text the right thing, you need to meet them etc... It took me almost 3 months to figure it out... If there was no game it would not take me any time.... Game is displaying attractive masculine behavior that will give you max probability of success, there is game in every aspect and medium.... "onine is not game" "texting is not game" etc... is not factual, there is opinion and there are facts.... Just because couple of dudes decided online is not game, when they are not even good at it say so is not so... More heavy opinion is guys like cocporn, jeffy, jmlv etc... that do both

But what about those of use who currently do online game exclusively? I do intend to go cold approach eventually, but overall I thought the forum was about becoming better men and getting more and better sex, not about being cold approachers.

yeah, luckily even though this forum has always had it's issues in my opinion, at least it was basically all about 'game' and, more importantly ''cold approach''

I've spent a few days this week on one of the last remaining fairly active 'game forums' and it's just a joke lol. Nobody cold approaches. In fact nobody even does online game. Nothing. It's a 'game forum', but all discussion is about politics or travel or maybe the occasional thread about a relationship problem someones having or the importance of looks.

Earlier a discussion about hit rate was happening, and someone was talking about how Tom Torrerro gets about 1 lay in 30 approaches and everyone there was bragging like ''Ha, that's lame! I get laid within 2 approaches max with a 10!!''. It turned out they were all basically talking about sugar daddy game on Thai girls in SE Asia! haha!! As if that's the same thing as cold approaching some random hot teen on the street in France or something! lol It's like RooshV forum but even worse!

Actually made me appreciate this place more, tbh!

I really do miss the rsdnationforum though. Not gonna lie! I loved that place

It will be a forum about game. online game is not game. The subreddit should be an invite-only for cold approachers (beginners, intermediates, and advanced) only. any users asking questions about online game, should be banned. as there are other forums for that.

This in my opinion is the best way to maintain a high quality community.

Wtf. That’s stupid. I do daygame too you know but just not as frequently. Does this mean I'll only be able to post about my daygaming?

My account should be old enough to create new subreddits. Let me know whom should I add as a mod (K? Teev?). I suggest we make it “restricted” so it’s easy to moderate but still accessible to the public, to attract “fresh meat” (although I don’t really have a lot to contribute myself, so it obviously can’t be my decision).

r/masf is free, as is r/nextasf - we’ll need so rules / sidebar content as well (HoF arricles?)...

Thanks Silvertree for suggestions and your work on this forum over the past years. I am wondering is there an option to simply give this forum to somebody else instead of deleting it ? It would be much simpler then creating new forum from scratch, and there is also a question of what happens with all the content posted here over the years ? It would be shame if it was simply deleted and gone

I do not own this forum, Blackdragon does. In the past he has been willing to sell it. Sites that estimate your site's value determined by traffic in recent months give this site a value between $2,000 and $13,000, and last year he offered to sell it for $5000. He invested a lot of money in this over the last 8 years, and is not likely to give it away for free.

This is just a guess on my part, but I believe he will keep the site up as a read only archive and put advertising on it to pay for server costs.

He has always supported this community, despite a number of prominent members of the community spending years trashing him. And, just to say what really happened, I was in favor of kicking those people out and letting them start their own site, but BD would not let me do that.

The forum was primarily about getting laid and seduction.
Then it tried to cater to everybody's needs
                          Then it died

Cold approach is where seduction is, not online.
Of course you could still use a lot of those techniques to get laid from online, but honestly there's no secret to online anymore.
If you have doubts about online, buy BDs book and follow it to the T untill you figure out what works for you.

*Exception: COCPORN new tinder sequence, which is fantastic.

We need better and more live experiences from posters.
The best posters are always in-field trying and coming up with new stuff, or some interesting stories at least.

We can figure all the shenanigans later, I think it's more important to have it in place so people can join
