  • Mind Prep to Allow Hardcore Intermittent Fasting

-disclaimer - this is in no way intended as medical advice.
-caution - fasting may lead to illness/injury, especially if physical activity levels are not adjusted.

The nature of living things is to survive (eat) and reproduce. This goes all the way down to a cellular level. It is at the very core of 'life as we know it'. Consequently, any non-full living being, will respond to finding suitable food, by eating. Unless there is an active signal to the contrary. All this means that there are only 2 ways Fasting can actually happen:
-prevent the finding of suitable food. (Solution - start with zero high-temptation foods in the house, and buy only what you plan to eat that day.)
-provide a signal of sufficient strength and continuity to prevent eating. (The main scope of this article.)

A very clear idea when- and how much you are going to eat, is the absolute minimum requirement. Without it, the mind will constantly look for creative ways to justify eating sooner, rather than later. (Because its in your NATURE, remember?) I can not emphasize enough, how important this is with regard to success in fasting. Without this, a continous signal to not eat, becomes impossible.

Ideas/thoughts come in various forms, but for absolute clarity, nothing beats a picture a.k.a. vision. For me personally, the following type of calendar with a distinct color coding for NO-food-days, has proven to be extremely effective. Its somehow easy to remember a combination of week-day and color. below is an example of a calendar I used in the past, when doing 3 fasting days pr week, and only a single (large) meal on food-days. It creates a strong link between Monday/Thursday/Saturday and the color RED and it being a NO-FOOD-day.

Time for some more cautioning. Doing 4 meals pr week for 10 weeks, is what I consider 'hardcore'. Outside of short walks, I did no exercise during the period, and dropped from 94kg to 79kg. It never felt unhealthy, except lack of physical energy, BUT when I started going to the gym after ending the fasting, I was prone to very bad joint injuries. (the type that is painful and lasts for weeks/months). Consider yourself warned: you need to re-introduce exercise very gradually.

Another thing that helped immensely, was to consume a spoon of dry cocoa powder dissolved in hot water, when the hunger got really bad. Cocoa is rich in minerals, to protect us from going deficient during the fasting period. It also contains certain compounds that have mild toxicity in high doses, leading the body to reduce hunger as a sort of defense mechanism versus eating too much of such foods. Try eating a large serving of dark chocolate, and you will know what I speak of.

    Summary
-Create a visually strong fasting calendar/plan
-Empty your house of high temptation sweets/foods. Buy Cocoa powder.
    -Consider reducing your exercise regime.

Edit - Forgot to mention another thing I do to curb hunger, in addition to the cocoa powder.. When I do eat, I eat mostly meat and cheese - foods that digest slowly while providing a steady stream of energy to the body. (The worst thing you could eat is a very high carb meal, due to blood sugar drop after initial surge, producing very strong hunger.)

      Appreciate the feedback, Skills!
-I cant do what you ask, because this post is about HARDCORE, specificly.
-For people looking for more 'enjoyable', I suggest Warrior Diet. (1 meal pr day)
-For people looking to train hard while fasting, I suggest Leangains.com. (BEWARE though - LG probably even more hardcore than what I suggest here, not so much due to the fasting, but due to SQUAT and DEADLIFT while fasting.. Ive tried it twice and failed completely both times. (*hunger from hell*) Hence the birth of the system outlined here, which works great for me personally.)

I'm willing to do grueling things if the reward is there. what's the benefit to this over just warrior diet? I essentially been doing the warrior diet for 6 years.

-The answer depends heavily on your goals and lifestyle. If you dont have that 'last bit of body fat' that seems really hard to get rid of, stick with WD.
-WD cured my IBS and Ive been on it since 03. I have nothing but good things to say about it.
-One thing, you probably noticed that food started tasting better when you started WD, right? That effect is amplified by roughly 10x when you go hard into IF.
-Not only that, your sense of smell becomes amplified. And all types of food smells will smell heavenly, and send you into this kinda euphoric state.
-And thinking about certain foods will make you VIVIDLY recall how that food tastes. Try visiting a food court in that state and just enjoy the display and smells of the various foods. Its a very nice experience.
-Lol, also when in that state, I can watch FOOD PORN on YT for an entire day without getting bored. (e.g.: https://www.youtube.com/user/BarbecueWeb/videos )
-Simple things like coffee and tea become more enjoyable too.

Why do you want to get rid of "that last bit of body fat"? Is it a health reason or beauty/PU-reason? I personally think a little layer of fat looks healthier and more attractive than super low body fat, and I know girls who agree. So I doubt the effectiveness of this for PU.

Anyways, I am currently doing non-hardcore intermittent fasting. I have attached the feeling of hunger to a vision of burning fat and purifying my body. It makes hunger even feel enjoyable at times. Just like how I enjoy aching muscles the day after a good work out.

Vanity is big reason. The other is to live long - here is the short (20min) version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvTE--5w808 (Oh and yes, it detoxifies the body like nothing else.)

Startagizer low body fat is good for tinder fast sex, but yeah make very little difference for pu since women can not see 6 pack through shirt, but it does make an impact on the face though (jawline etc...).. But here this confirm what you have seen with the girls:

"feeling of hunger" this is strange are you sure you are calculating your calories right? or eating feeling up foods, the main advantage i found in intermittent fasting is the lack of feeling hungry... Try to do 2 big meals, that has worked well for me in terms of feeling full and not cravings.....

Well read the hole post later, but at the moment I'm in a hurry.
I just want to say that out of my expirience. going on diet is a lot of mental restructuring. You need to re condition yourself.
For example: everytime I resist a sweet or something shitty to eat I say to myself :
-Everytime I resist I get more and more proud of myself.

on the opposite I know that when I take the sweet I will be down afterwards.

Yeah, I can see it working as a polarizer, in a similar fashion like proper a body builder is less attractive to most women, but there are not that many around so the girls who are into it needs to chase.

No counting going on here, but maybe it's because I'm a newbie to intermittant fasting? After 16 hour of no eating I feel really hungry, but I have also noticed how I feel full way longer after a meal now, but that is probably due to eating more in a single meal.

The successful order of things seems to be:

1: Fix Micro & Macro nutrients = Hunger management
2: Meal schedule = Intermittent fasting
3: Exercise schedule = Maintain muscle mass

Where each creates a 'limited venue' for the next part to take place..

(Micro = minerals, sunlight etc. Macro = reducing carbs until meals can be skipped relatively easily)

Hmm not sure if my comment can help at all
But I do fast from time to time naturally
Just a day, and I don't go on a walk or excercise on that day, I also shorten the day with my sleep schedule to reduce any tedious hanging around feels
I just sit sort of calmly and let the hunger "drain" excess fluid/water out of my system (the hunger makes for an active gut, but it isn't quite a hunger for food, just more like holding my breath)
My feel on it was that, by not eating the gut then can focus its energy on neatening stuff up, and that thhe kidneys can more fully focus

I do other things too, like no meat days, where I snack on veggies and a lil fruit
And elongated periods of a bit of fish
I also do nutrient gorging, where occassionally I get a lil of pretty much everything imaginable (I'd like to do that more)

But I do an actual skipped day maybe once every three months.
Generally I have one and a half meals a day and vary that up as to when I have it and if I add or subtract

I can relate to the post above for sure. I would compare it to a long drive.. Driving can be boring, but a 10 hr drive can go by pretty quick when you 'befriend' the idea of driving all day, and start with that attitude. (Compared with suddenly having to drive for 2 hours after finishing work and eating dinner.

Its my no-food day, so obviously, Im thinking about food.... and since this thread is hated already, might as well add some of my other 'unpopular' stuff on food..
My most 'unhealthy food suspects' has changed slightly:
1 PUFA plant oils (negative research seems to be stacking up more and more)
2 Fiber (I have digestive issues. Some tolerate them better.)
3 Plant defense toxins (beans, wheat..)
-For very refined carbohydrates, most of the above removed, so Im rather fine with eating them in smaller quantities now..
-I now read labels religiously, tossing anything with plant oil added.
-And I avoid eating in places where cooking oil is used. (Which is pretty much all cantinas, diners and restaurants)

One problem.. I looove oriental sesame oil for taste. So I add a few drops now and then

-So.. I feel Im doing great. Except x-mas week, Ive been eating 1 meal every other day, + consuming 3-6 teaspoons of cocoa powder on noneating days.
-No real hunger to speak of so far! Will get a bit worse form here iirc.. No other problems either.
-What surprises me the most, is how well my training has been going. Reason must be its upper body only, doing dips and pullups with gymnastics rings.
-I use http://www.pua-zone.com/showthread.p...le-Anihilation so Im blasting my muscles pretty well even on empty stomach.
-My meals are roughly 300g ground beef and 300g cheese and 50g butter, with some tomato or even chocolate.
-Down from 92 to 85 first month. Slows down a lot from here though. Probably 81 a month from now, and 79kg two months from now..
-Face looked a bit 'saggy' one day, so I tried vitamin C (collagen boost supposedly) and I believe it worked!
