I’ve been floating this idea in my head for a while, so I’d like to know what everybody else thinks.
Buuut before we start some quick notes:
That said, I must say I was very surprised the first time I played the Witcher series. No, I didn’t start back on the first PlayStation feature. My encounter happened last year with the PC version of Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt. Oh boy, as soon as I looked at the amazing graphics and completed the first couple of quests I was hooked!
Not just about the history, which is beautifully written and full of twists and hard choices you are forced to make (some of which may kill beloved characters). What really caught my eye was that Geralt the Rivia, the protagonist, seemed like a true Alpha guy! Some kind of medieval MGTOW so to speak, LOL.
I won’t get in details so I won’t spoil the fun for people who not played it yet, but at some point in the game you’ll be able to:
In my opinion it’s a (very) welcome breath of fresh air when a male protagonist of one of the bestselling games of 2015 (and Game of The Year Award Winner: http://thegameawards.com/) is treated like…a real man!
He’s not a thug like those one-dimensional GTA guys. He’s not trying to save the world, or rescue the princess, or be a role model to anybody else. Geralt just behaves like a man with a very strong mission! He likes women. He likes sex. He likes booze and gambling. He gets tricked by women. He’s a capitalist who only works for money. He’s also trying to make some good in the world. And he’s ok with it all.
Even when he chooses wrong, you understand it’s an honest mistake and not some feminist politically correct garbage. Guy has real dilemmas! His main motivation is to protect his friends, especially his self-appointed step daughter who’s facing a lot of trouble through the game, and enjoy life the best he can being a full-time monster killer mutant.
Although I must confess the best part came when I played the first expansion, Hearts of Stone. I have not finished it yet, but at some point you have to go to some marriage with a very hot female companion.
As day goes by you have to perform tasks in order to complete the quest (some very funny I might add). As soon as night arrives, your “date” completely loses her vibe and starts to get sad for no apparent reason. Side note: Geralt gets a lot of women to his bed, but he’s kind of clueless when it comes to understand them LOL. Point is, you’re left alone and must get her vibe back up, but you don’t know how! Geralt is stiff…his life and tragedies made him like that, so he’s got a hard time to understand this dynamic and be loose with women and life in general. He’s just too serious!
That’s when a second character, who took part of the tale a chapter before, shoots the best advice a guy could give in that kind of situation (and one of the best lines I’ve ever seen on a videogame):
“You know those two, the ones who got married today? They’re bound forever to some contract they’ll never be able to break! They’ll probably have 5 years of joy and a lifetime of fighting and boredom! But you? You’re free! You can do whatever you want! And right now you have a very beautiful woman waiting for you to go to her and cheer her up. She’s willing to have an amazing time with you! Now you have to choose if you want to give her that”.
What? Did he just say it? Holly shit dude, you won’t get more Alpha-wisdom from a pixel character! I’m serious: almost got an orgasm when I heard it, LOL.
And that’s it! I never read the Witcher books or knew anything about the universe before that game, but they got a new fan for sure!
Sooo I’d really like to know if anybody else played the game, or had a similar experience with another title.
Cheers everyone!

Buuut before we start some quick notes:
- I’ve always loved to play videogames! Mind you I started at a very young age (back in 1985, to be more precise) when me and my brother got our very own (brand new!!!) Atari 2600;
- As I got older and adult life caught on, my time became very limited to enjoy it. So these days I choose very carefully what I’ll play and only play one game at a time;
- I’m an old school RPG enthusiast. Games like Chrono Trigger, Zelda, FF, Diablo and Fallout will always be among my favorites. So every new game with a good story and RPG elements (like leveling and searching for prime items to beat a tough boss) will sure be on my playing list;

I won’t get in details so I won’t spoil the fun for people who not played it yet, but at some point in the game you’ll be able to:
- Fuck hookers at will;
- Fuck almost every hot female character who crosses your path, providing you choose correctly;
- Dismiss those very women when they give you shit, jumping to the next one;
- Get drunk with other dudes;
- Play cards and gamble a lot on exclusive events;
- Go to bars and parties with dozens of half-naked women dancing around you;
- Kill at will when you or your friends are wronged;
